Dharam Pal, a native of Uttar Pradesh, was allegedly murdered by Pitamber Bishwa Karma, originally from Nepal, yesterday after an argument over bidi.

Pal was found murdered near a chicken shop in Safdarjung Enclave area yesterday and police alleged that Karma had murdered him as both were seen fighting with each other.

After 12 hours of intensive search, police arrested the accused from the DDA Jungle near Khanna Tennis Stadium.

During interrogation, Karma told police that he came to Delhi a few days back and started working as labour in Chawla Chicken Shop around 3 days back.

"Yesterday morning, he saw rag picker Dharam Pal near his shop and asked him to give him a bidi but he refused to share. Dharam Pal started smoking bidi and abused Karma," Chhaya Sharma, Deputy Commissioner of Police, South District, said.

Karma rushed to his shop, picked up a sharp edged knife used for cutting vegetables and attacked Dharam Pal.
