Congress vice president Rahul Gandhi today held a meeting with Kerala Chief Minister Oomen Chandy and PCC chief Ramesh Chennithala here and discussed the party's strategy for the 2014 Lok Sabha polls.

The issue of price rise was also raised during the interaction, party members said.

The state leaders said there is a need to address the diesel price hike issue as the opposition Left in Kerala can use it to corner the Congress.

Emphasising on better coordination between the state government and PCC, Gandhi wanted to know at what intervals the meetings take place in district Congress committees and Pradesh Congress Committees.

A senior leader, who attended the meeting, said Gandhi appeared keen to identify the challenges his party may face in the state before the next Lok Sabha elections and wanted to know about Congress' strengths and weaknesses at the grassroot level.

Sources said Gandhi asked the Kerala leaders what could be the issues in the state during Parliamentary elections.

He will hold interaction with Karnataka leaders on March 21.
