Rahul Gandhi calls up ailing former Cong MLA

Congress vice-president Rahul Gandhi

today called up a veteran woman party worker and former Tamil Nadu legislator hospitalised in Madurai and promised her all help.

"Rahul Gandhi spoke over phone to A S Ponnammal this evening and wished her a speedy recovery," a Congress party press release said here.

A seven-time MLA, Ponnammal was admitted to Madurai Government Rajaji hospital following some illness.

"Rahul told me that he was willing to get me admitted to

the Kamala Nehru hospital in Allahabad. However, I told him that the facility here was good. He also spoke with doctors over my health" the Congress party quoted Ponnammal as saying.
 

"Rahul has promised her all help whenever needed," the release said, adding the elderly former legislator thanked the party top leader for his gesture.
