Former Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot today claimed that Rahul Gandhi was the "main" target of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and alleged that the BJP tried to show the Congress president as "inferior".

He made the remarks during a programme in Sangod here to pay homage to Mahatma Gandhi on his 70th death anniversary.

"Rahul Gandhi is the main target of PM Narendra Modi and he and his party always tries to prove or show him inferior or low," he said, adding that the Congress had never followed such a tradition.

On the Congress president being alloted a seat in the sixth row during the Republic Day programme in Delhi, Gehlot said the people of the country do not know the people seated in the first five rows, but know Rahul Gandhi, who was in the sixth.

He said, "Those who were currently calling for a Congress-free India, would one day themselves be free.

Gehlot expressed confidence that the Congress would win the bypolls for the Lok Sabha seats of Alwar and Ajmer, and the Assembly seat of Mandalgarh.
