Congress Vice President Rahul Gandhi is expected to visit Mhow, the birth place of B R Ambedkar, and interact with Dalits on May 29 during his one-day visit to Madhya Pradesh.

The visit is being planned at a time when Congress has chalked out year-long programme to celebrate the 125th birth anniversary of the legendary social reformer.

According to the proposed plan, Rahul is coming to the BJP-ruled state on May 29 and expected to pay floral tributes to Ambedkar at Mhow, MP Congress spokesperson Narendra Saluja told PTI today.

The 44-year-old Congress leader is later expected to meet Dalits at the cantonment town, some 25 km from here, he said.

Rahul will also meet farmers whose crops have been damaged in the recent unseasonal rain and hailstorm. The venue of the meeting, however, is yet to be decided, he said.

Saluja said AICC General Secretary in-charge of Madhya Pradesh affairs Mohan Prakash and state Congress chief Arun Yadav are slated to hold a meeting here on May 3 to finalise details of Rahul's visit to the state, where the main Opposition party is out of power since 2003.

The Amethi MP, back from 56-day leave of absence last month, has been meeting farmers in the backdrop of agrarian crisis.

This week, the Congress leader interacted with farmers, affected due to crop damage, in Punjab and Maharashtra. He targeted the BJP-led NDA Government over farm issues during these visits.
