Congress Vice-President Rahul Gandhi today met party MPs from Delhi and Tamil Nadu in the Congress Parliamentary Party office here and discussed ways to fine tune the party's strategy for the next Lok Sabha polls.

Earlier, Congress President Sonia Gandhi used to meet party MPs from all the states in Parliament during every session, a practice which was carried out by Rahul this time in an indication of his growing role in the national affairs of Congress.

Talking to reporters after the interaction, Gandhi said that it was a "general meeting" and that he plans to meet MPs from all states in days to come during the ongoing Budget session.

Sources said the need for having some sound system for ticket distribution was raised at the meeting in which Gandhi asked the MPs to give their feedback freely and frankly on the functioning of the government and the party.

MPs from Tamil Nadu were the first to meet him, which was followed by an hour long-meeting with Delhi MPs.

Sources said that party MP from West Delhi Mahabal Mishra demanded greater representation for migrants in the party organization.

Mishra said that the population of migrants has increased in the state of Delhi and their votes are substantial in many pockets. Hence they should be given greater representation at various levels of the organization.

Delhi PCC chief J P Agrawal wanted to raise some specific issues related to party organization but was asked by Gandhi to wait for some other time for it, the sources said.

Gandhi also had a brief interaction with school students from Surat in Gujarat, who had come to Parliament House to watch the proceedings of Lok Sabha but but could not do so as the House adjourned for the day at 2 PM.

Sources said that Gandhi will be meeting MPs from two states each day during this session.
