Congress Vice-President Rahul Gandhi today expressed deep "shock and pain" over the brutal rape and murder of a law student in Kerala and promised "swift action" to bring the guilty to book.
"Deeply saddened & pained to learn of the brutal rape and murder of a law student in Perumbavoor, Kerala.
"Spoke to PCC President Sudheeranji about the incident, Kerala Govt will take swift action to bring the guilty to book (sic)", he said in a series of tweets.

Two persons have been taken into custody in connection with the rape and brutal murder of a 30-year-old dalit woman at Perumbavoor that sparked street protests by students and rights activists across the state today.
Chief Minister Oommen Chandy described the crime as "shocking" and said the culprits will be brought to book.

At the AICC briefing, party spokesman Jyotiraditya Scindia said Rahul Gandhi would also be visiting Kerala in the wake of the incident.
Hitting out at BJP spokesperson Meenakshi Lekhi for making "wild allegations" against Rahul in the matter, Scindia said it would have been better if she would have checked her facts before speaking.
"BJP is always quick to make allegations without checking ground realities," he said.
