Congress vice president Rahul Gandhi's chartered plane was diverted to Sanganer airport here tonight due to air traffic congestion in New Delhi.

Gandhi was on his way to Delhi from Patna after addressing a party rally when the plane was diverted.

"After nearly half-an-hour halt, the plane took off," Sanganer airport director NK Tailong told PTI.

Coincidentally, former chief minister Ashok Gehlot was present at the airport to take a flight to Delhi when he got information about the landing and he received Gandhi there, party sources said.

Gehlot also left with Gandhi in the latter's plane instead of the regular flight, the sources said.
