The NCP today criticised Rahul Gandhi for his 'dalali' barb at Prime Minister Narendra Modi, saying the Congress vice president should have refrained from using such words.
The NCP, which is an UPA ally, also termed as "anti-national" Mumbai Pradesh Congress Committee (MPCC) President Sanjay Nirupam's remarks calling surgical strikes "fake".
"Rahul Gandhi is the leader of the principal opposition party, which is perhaps the oldest organisation in the world. He should have shown refrained from using such words," NCP MP D P Tripathi told reporters here.

NCP Chief Sharad Pawar had yesterday supported the government over the surgical strikes, saying it was necessary to teach a lesson to terrorists and those exporting terror.
However, Pawar, a former Defence Minister, had said there were similar strikes during the UPA regime, but the then government didn't boast about the action.
Hitting out at Nirupam, Tripathi said, "One doesn't need enemies if he has friends like Sanjay Nirupam. The statement given by him was certainly anti-national as you are doubting the army."
Gandhi had yesterday hit out at the Prime Minister, accusing him of "hiding behind the blood of soldiers" and said that he was selling off their sacrifices for political benefit.
"Jinhone Hindustan ke liye surgical strike kiye hain, unke khoon ke peeche aap chhupe hain. Unki aap dalali kar rahe ho. Yeh bilkul galat hai. {You (Modi) are hiding behind the blood of soldiers in Jammu and Kashmir and those who carried out the surgical strikes for India. You are exploiting their sacrifices, which is very wrong}," Gandhi had said.
