Trinamool Congress (TMC) chief Mamata Banerjee today criticised the move to prevent Congress vice-president Rahul Gandhi and Delhi Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia from visiting the hospital to see the body of the ex-serviceman who allegedly committed suicide in Delhi.

"It is very sad that one of our former jawans committed suicide. Very unfortunate that Rahul Gandhi and Manish Sisodia were stopped from visiting the bereaved family," she said in a tweet.

"They should be allowed to offer their condolences," Banerjee said, adding, "our representative Derek O'Brien is also on his way to Delhi".

An ex-serviceman allegedly committed suicide in Delhi over the issue of One Rank One Pension (OROP) scheme, triggering a political row with Gandhi and Sisodia rushing to the hospital where they were prevented by securitymen from seeing the body of the deceased.
