Rahul wants subsidised annual LPG cylinder limit raised to 12

Rahul Gandhi today gave voice to demands for raising the number of subsidised LPG cylinders from nine to 12 per year as he made a public request for it to Prime Minister Manmohan Singh at the AICC session here.

"I want to tell the Prime Minister -- Pradhan Mantriji, 9 cylinders se baat nahin ban rahi. Humko 12 cylinders chahiye. Hindustan ke mahilaon ko 12 cylinders chahiye. (Prime Minister, nine cylinders are not enough. We need 12 cylinders, India's women need 12 cylinders)," he said.

The Congress Vice President was addressing the session when he turned towards Singh who was seated on the dais, along with Congress chief Sonia Gandhi.
 

His remarks were greeted by the gathering with cheers and applause.

There have been demands, including from the Congress party, for raising the annual limit of subsidised LPG cylinders from nine to 12.
