At least 71 teachers were found absent from duty today after raids by authorities in 601 government schools in Punjab, officials said.
Besides, 45 teachers were found coming to schools late, they said.
"Three Circles - Jalandhar, Faridkot and Nabha (Patiala) were visited by the special teams of the state education department at the same time," they added.
According to officials, immediately after opening of the schools, these teams visited 205 schools of Jalandhar Circle, 160 schools of Nabha Circle and 236 schools of Faridkot Circle, officials said.
