Raids on flour mills, gas service agency in Mumbai

Rationing officials in the Food and Civil Supplies Department has raided the office of a gas service agency in south Mumbai, allegedly involved in black marketing of LPG cylinders, and seized goods worth over Rs 4 lakh.

The flying squad of the rationing department raided M/S Kakad Gas Service Agency in New Marine Lines yesterday and found that 193 LPG cylinders for residential use were missing. As many as 373 gas cylinders for residential use and 450 cylinders for commercial use and a motor vehicle number plate were confiscated.

The squad also raided a mess run by Sumar Gholai, to whom the agency illegally supplied the cylinders meant for residential use, and seized 34 cylinders.
 

Altogether, goods worth Rs 4,28,620 were seized. Cases were filed against five persons under the Essential Services Act.

In another operation, squad raided four flour mills, including Meridian Flour Mill, Sanghvi Flour Mill and Shivaji Flour Mill and found out that there was discrepancy in the stocks of wheat and flour. The squad seized bills and other documents for probe.
