The stone plaque of a railway overbridge was found in a drain today, a day after Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar inaugurated the structure on the Delhi-Ambala railway line in Panipat.

Some unidentified people uprooted the stone plaque last night, hours after the chief minister had inaugurated the overbridge on Jatal road, Superintendent of Police Rahul Sharma told PTI over the phone.

It was found from a nearby drain today, Sharma added.

"As of now, it is not clear who is behind the mischief. CCTV footage of nearby areas are being scanned to obtain any clue about the culprit," he said.

"We have registered an FIR against unknown persons for theft, mischief and destruction of public property," he added.

Khattar had yesterday inaugurated the railway overbridge, which has been constructed at a cost of Rs 27.81 crore.
