Rail traffic disrupts as train hits tractor

A train hit a tractor at an unmanned crossing near Bathnaha station on Jogbani-Katihar section of North-East Frontier zone, disrupting rail traffic for about three hours, an RPF officer said.

The mishap took place when the Seemanchal Express rammed into the tractor which had got stuck on a railway track at the unmanned crossing, RPF station in-charge Pawan Kumar said.

The tractor driver escaped by jumping out in nick of time, he said, adding that rail services remained disrupted between 1100 and 1400 hours due to this incident, Kumar said.

Movement of trains resumed after the railway authorities got the mangled remains of the tractor removed from the track, the RPF officer said.
