Railway Board chief meets SER GM, departmental heads

The Railway Board, led by chairman A K Mittal, today held a high-level meeting with South Eastern Railway general manager Radhey Shyam and principal departmental heads to review and evaluate performance of the railway zone at its headquarters at Garden Reach here.

Mittal reviewed various key activities of South Eastern Railway (SER) networking and laid a special emphasis on safety and security of passengers with special focus on passenger amenities including cleanliness and punctual running of trains, SER sources said.

The chairman stressed on adhering to safety norms by all railwaymen working in the field and instructed that more field inspections by officers be carried out especially during night time, the sources said.
 

While reviewing various projects of the SER, Mittal stressed on speedy completion of projects within proper time frame.

SER general manager Radhey Shyam, while apprising the chairman and other board members of achievements and developments of the railway, highlighted the efforts being made by the SER to generate more revenue earnings from freight and passenger sectors and the initiative taken to complete all the projects in time.

Passengers' complaints have been reduced due to bringing about system improvement, Radhey Shyam told the board members, the sources said.
