A lightning strike, called by a section of railway employees of Thiruvananthapuram Division today demanding action against an official who allegedly assaulted a ticket examiner, was withdrawn later in the day.

According to railway sources, a TTE, belonging to the Division, was allegedly beaten up by a railway official yesterday in Kannur railway station, which comes under the Palakkad Division.

The agitation, launched this morning demanding immediate action against the accused, partially caused a delay in the train services and affected the functioning of information and ticket counters under the Division.

A railway official said though some trains were delayed and the operation of information counters had been disrupted for some time, the strike did not affect the functioning of trains in the Thiruvananthapuram Division.

The employees withdrew the strike after the authorities assured to make an inquiry into the alleged incident and take necessary action against those responsible, the official added.
