Chief Engineer of Southern Railway Suyambulingam today inspected the Pamban railway bridge across the sea here to study possibility of changing the design of the cantilever bridge.
According to officials, IIT professor Arul Jayachandran and engineering students were present when the inspection was conducted.
The decision to change the design of the bridge was made in April this year when Rs 25 crore was allocated. Anti corrosion equipments could be used for the bridge in the Pamban area which was considered to be second most corrosive site of the world.
The Inspection and feasibility study would be completed in two weeks, officials said.
