All India Railwaymen's Federation today threatened to go on an indefinite strike if their demands, including setting up of the Seventh Pay Commission and scrapping of the new pension scheme, are not met.

"We had met Railway Minister Mallikarjun Kharge yesterday and told him about our demands. He said he will look into it and did not give any assurance," AIRF general secretary Shiv Gopal Mishra said.

"We are talking to other organisations to finalise a suitable date for the strike," he said.

Meanwhile, when asked about the AIRF strike threat, Kharge said, "I do not know about this. Let me see I have just taken charge."

AIRF with 10.26 lakh members is the largest railway union.
