Railways has created three new Director General level posts as part of the reforms being undertaken at the higher level of the national transporter.
Akhil Agarwal took over charge as the first Director General (Signal & Telecommunications) while AK Goel took over charge as the first Director General (Railway Stores).
Anand Mathur took over charge as the first Director General (Personnel) in the Railway Ministry, according to a release.

Railways already had two Director General posts viz., Director General (Railway Protection Force), Director General (Railway Health Services).
With this, Ministry of Railways now has five Director General level posts at Railway Board level.
