Railways men, women post contrasting wins

Indian Railways men put up a cohesive performance as they defeated Chhattisgarh in a Level I match on the third day of the 67th senior national basketball championship here today.

Led by the scoring of 2016 NBA D-league draftee Palpreet Singh (30 points), the Railways dominated the second half to close out on a 64-53 win.

In the other match in the men's section, Karnatak continued their good run to pip Haryana 76-73 in a thrilling win.

Anil Kumar top scored for Karnatakawith 26 points.

In the women's section also, Railways, the Defending Champions, came up with a solid team effort to overcome Chhattisgarh 71-68 in a match that was decided in the last minute.
 

Kerala girls registered another easy win blowing away Delhi80-44. For Kerala, India team star P.S. Jeena put up 22 points.

In the level 2 men's, games Chandigarh and Delhi registered wins against Sikkim and Goa respectively while Telangana won against Bihar.

Results:

Women: Level 1: Group A:Indian Railways (Madhu 20 Sitamani Tudu 14, R.Rajapriyadarshini 14, Anitha Paul Durai 11) beat Chhattisgarh (Poonam Chaturvedi 42, Sharanjeet Kaur 17)71-68.

Group B. Kerala (P S Jeena 22, P.G.Anjana 12, Rojamol 11) beat Delhi (Raspreet Sidhu 29) 80-44 (22-18, 25-3, 15-11, 18-12).
