The big and busy A-I category stations will have a maximum of four such machines and a maximum of two at other category of stations, said a railway official, adding the machines will be installed at a location identified by the divisions.
"The banks shall also ensure that the required amount of coins are available in machines at all times," the official said.
Railways will only charge a nominal licence fee of Rs one for installation of the machines but no advertisement on the machines will be permitted except the name and the logo of the bank.
The first choice would be given to State Bank of India for installation of the machine on first-cum-first-served basis followed by other public sector banks.
