Union Railway Minister Suresh Prabhu today said here that his ministry was contemplating involving religious leaders in the 'Swachch Rail' campaign.

"You cannot create Swachch Rail or Swachch Bharat in a day. To keep a railway station clean is the duty of every passenger, but because people don't keep it clean, we have to do it," Prabhu said, speaking at an information technology convention in Goa.

The Railway Ministry is thinking of roping in religious leaders from all the religions who have big following for the Swachch Rail campaign, he said.

"Imagine what will happen when religious leaders who have a hold over their followers pass on the message (to keep the railway stations and trains clean)," Prabhu said.

In most, places the tracks are unclean because of the people who have encroached around it, he said.
