A brief spell of refreshing rain in the evening brought relief to Delhiites today after the mercury earlier shot up to 43.6 degrees Celsius to give the national capital its hottest day so far this season.
The maximum temperature, which had jumped four notches above normal, came down significantly in the evening following the light showers to settle at 39.8 degrees after 5.30 P.M.
The minimum in Delhi was recorded at 25.2 degrees, one notch below normal.

"There was trace rainfall which considerably brought the temperature down by evening," a MeT official said.
The forecast is for partially cloudy skies with dust storms and thunderstorms likely along with light rainfall in some areas till morning tomorrow.
The maximum and minimum tomorrow is expected to hover around 43 and 23 degrees, respectively.
