Rain in parts of Himachal after dry weather spell

People in Himachal Pradesh had some respite from a spell of dry weather during the ongoing monsoon as rain restarted today at several places in the Himalayan state.

Rain and thundershowers have been occuring in Dharamshala, Palampur, Dalhousie and Manali since early today, the Meteorological (MeT) department said.

As per the data recorded by the MeT department at 8.30 am today, Dharamshala has witnessed 33.8 millimetres rainfall, followed by Palampur (27 mm), Dalhousie (26 mm) and Manali (8.6 mm).

Other areas of plains, low hills and middle hills of the state may face thundershowers and rain later in the day, MeT Director Manmohan Singh said.

 

The high hills of the state may witness rain and snow at some places from July 10, he said adding that rainy weather conditions would continue to prevail in several parts of the state till July 14.

The weatherman said minimum and maximum temperatures increased by one to two degrees Celsius than normal during the last 24 hours.

Una was the hottest in the state with temperature recorded as high as 39.2 degrees Celsius whereas Keylong recorded the lowest temperature with a minimum of 14.3 degrees Celsius over the last 24 hours, he added.

The weather continued to remain dry till Sunday as monsoon was weak in the state during the last 24 hours, he added.
