Rain, landslip force cancellation of NMR service midway

Sudden landslip near Aderley railway station forced the cancellation of Nilgiris Mountain Railway (NMR) which resumed its service today after two days of its suspension.

Nearly 140 stranded passengers of the train, which left Mettupalayam at 7.10 am, were brought back to Mettupalayam and the services cancelled for the day today, railway sources said.

The train service, resumed after two days was stopped at Kallar station following information of land slip at Aderley.

The train is expected to operate tomorrow, they said.
