Rain lashes Himachal; heavy rains expected

Moderate to heavy rain occurred at many places in Himachal Pradesh, even as the MeT department has warned of heavy rain at isolated places in the next a few days.

Arki in Solan district was the wettest in the region with 107 mm of rainfall while Kheri and Bhoranj recorded 42 mm and 40 mm of rain respectively. Dharamshala received 17 mm and Shimla 14 mm of rainfall.

The weather remained dry in many parts with overcast sky, increasing humidity level in lower hills.

Minimum temperature dropped by one to two degree Celsius with Kalpa and Manali recording a low of 13.4 and 13.6 degree Celsius. Dharamshala recorded 16.4 degrees while Shimla recorded 16.5 degree Celsius.
 

However, maximum day temperatures were marginally up and Una was hottest with a high of 33.4 degrees.

The MeT office has warned of heavy rain at isolated places in mid hills in the next two days and predicted rain or thundershowers in lower, mid and higher hills in the next six days.

The rain deficit has dropped from 20 per cent to 17 per cent as the region received average rainfall of 415.4 mm against normal rainfall of 498.9 mm from June 1 to August 8.
