Rain lashes parts of Odisha

Odisha received a heavy rainfall today as forecast by the IMD earlier in the day.

Most districts of coastal region including the state capital of Bhubaneswar was lashed by heavy rainfall in the afternoon, and Malkangiri in southern Odisha received the highest rainfall of 88 mm, IMD officials said.

Baripada in Mayurbhanj district recored a rainfall of 32 mm, Cuttack (22 mm), Bhubaneswar in Khurda district (11.2 mm), Puri (6 mm), Talcher in Angul district (5mm) and Balasore (3 mm).

IMD officials said many coastal and interior districts also experienced thunderstorm and lightning.

However, no casualty was reported.

The IMD had earlier warned that Odisha is likely to witness thunderstorm and lightning in 14 of the 30 districts today.
 

The 14 districts are Maurbhanj, Keonjhar, Balasore, Bhadrak, Kendrapara, Ganjam, Jagatsinghpur, Khurda, Deogarh, Cuttack, Puri, Gajapati, Rayagada and Koraput.
