Rain water harvesting project inaugurated in Noamundi

Surekha Hemant Nerurkar, wife of Tata Steel Managing Director H M Nerurkar, inaugurated the project today, a company release said here.

The Aqua Park Rain Water Harvesting Project was opened in 2011 and the second Rain Water Harvesting Project was inaugurated at Central Camp, Noamundi on March 4.

It was estimated that on an average annually around 75000 cubic meter of rain water would percolate in the Park from different high altitude sections around it. This rain water project would enable in charging the entire rain water to the ground water table in different ways, the release said.

With technical know-how from Chennai based country's leading rain water harvesting consultant KRG Rainwater Foundation, the project cost for this rain water harvesting project is Rs 33 lakh.

 

The site of this project has been beautifully decorated with arches, models made by local artisans, artificial waterfalls, pathways and decorative lights.

Spread over 45 acres of land, the Sir Dorabji Tata Botanical Park had been once the site of mining but restored by creating a green oasis.

This park has a rich collection of herbs, succulents, plants, cactus, butterflies, spices Green House, Bonsai Park and Amazon Rain Forest trees.
