Rainfall in Punjab, Haryana as mercury rises

Chandigarh, which received 28.4 mm rainfall, experienced a low of 11.5 degrees Celsius, up five notches above normal, while Ambala, in Haryana, was close at 11.4 degrees Celsius after getting 30 mm rainfall.

Elsewhere in Haryana, Hisar recorded a low of 12.1 degrees Celsius, which was up six notches above normal, while the minimum at Karnal was 11 degrees Celsius with the city receiving 42.3 mm rainfall. Narnaul, too, registered a minimum of 11 degrees Celsius with the mercury rising six notches above normal.

In Punjab, Ludhiana and Patiala experienced lows of 10.2 degrees and 12 degrees Celsius and received rainfall of 2.3mm and 22mm, respectively.

 

The minimum in Amritsar rose more than eight degrees above normal to settle at 11.1 degrees Celsius.

The MeT office in its forecast said that lightning may occur at isolated places in Punjab and Haryana over the coming 24 hours.
