Rainn Wilson joins new 'Star Trek' TV series

Actor Rainn Wilson has joined the cast of the upcoming "Star Trek: Discovery" series as an iconic intergalactic conman.

Wilson will take on the role of Harry Mudd, which was first played on TV by Roger C. Carmel, reported Ace Showbiz.

"Star Trek: Discovery" will premiere this summer and feature Sonequa Martin-Green, Michelle Yeoh, Anthony Rapp, Doug Jones, and James Frain, while "Harry Potter" villain Jason Isaacs was announced as the latest "Star Trek" captain two weeks ago.

The Brit, who played evil Lucius Malfoy in the Potter movies, has been cast as Captain Lorca in the upcoming sci-fi series.
