Rains and thundershower accompanied by gusty surface wind are likely to lash many places of Odisha due to a depression over north Bay of Bengal, official sources said.

The Depression moved north-northwestwards and lay centred near latitude 21.7 degree North and longitude 88.8 East degree. The system is likely to weaken gradually into a low-pressure area, they said.

The depression is expected to trigger rain and thundershower at many places over Odisha. Heavy rain is likely to occur at one or two places over the state by tomorrow, the meteorological centre here said.

Advice has been issued for hoisting distant cautionary signal at Paradip and Gopalpur ports.

Strong and gusty surface wind speed reaching 40-50 kmph reaching to 60 kmph is likely to prevail along and off north Odisha coast.

Fishermen are advised not to venture into the sea off north Odisha coast.
