Rains bring down mercury in Delhi, water-logging in many areas

The rain gauges at Safdurjung MeT station measured 4.4 mm till 5:30 PM while Ridge area got 13.8 mm. Palam station recorded 4.2 mm while it was 4.8 mm at Lodhi Road.

The showers started at around 9 AM bringing the mercury down slightly. The minimum temperature was recorded at 27.1 deg C against yesterday's 28.6 deg C while the maximum was at 32.9 deg C, down from 34.6 deg C.

Traffic snarls were reported from various areas including Laxmi Nagar, Bhogal, Mori Gate, Dhaula Kuan, Moti Bagh, Badarpur, Ashram Chowk, Saket, Ganesh Chowk and on the flyover near AIIMS.

 

Vehicular movement was slow in India Gate, Rafi Marg, Ashoka Road, ITO, Kalkaji, Jangpura and Ashram among other places due to rains and subsequent water-logging.

Water-logging was also reported from Mahipalpur village following which traffic coming from Gurgaon and towards Vasant Kunj has been severely affected.

The Delhi Traffic Police control room received complaints of slow movement of traffic from Bulward Road, Hakikat Nagar and various other areas in East and North Delhi.
