Press Trust of India New Delhi
Moderate to heavy rains lashed the national capital, bringing the mercury down to below the 30 degrees Celsius mark and forcing humidity to soar to cent per cent levels.

According to the MeT department, the day temperature was recorded at 29.9 degrees Celsius, which was five notches below normal for this part of the season. It was also a steep fall of 11.3 points from yesterday's 41.2 degrees.

What is more interesting that today's maximum temperature was just one degree higher than yesterday's minimum that was recorded at 28.9 degrees Celsius, a huge relief from the 40 plus temperatures Delhiites had been reeling under for more than a week.

According to a MeT official,56.7-mm of rains was recorded in the national capital during the last 24 hours till 8.30 AM today, while 2.5 mm of rain was recorded between 8:30 AM to 5:30 PM.

Today's minimum was 24.6 degree Celsius, which was two notches below normal. The humidity levels were recorded between 82 and 100 per cent during the day.

The weatherman has predicted the maximum and minimum to be around 31 and 25 degree Celsius respectively for tomorrow while rains and thunderstorms would occur in some areas.

Meanwhile, rains led to water-logging in many parts, causing traffic snarls on main arterial roads in the city during the morning rush hours.

Bumper to bumper traffic was witnessed in areas like ITO, Laxmi Nagar, Kapashera, Badarpur, Rajghat to Shantivan, Wazirpur flyover, and in front of Netaji Subhash Place among others.
