Rains drench Eastern UP; Ganga, Yamuna rivers rising

Parts of West UP also witnessed moderate showers.

Garotha got 7 cm rain; Akbarpur, Jaunpur, Turtipar 6 cm each; Regoli, Birdghat, Gorakhpur, Jaunpur 4 cm each; while Pratapgarh, Chatnag, Rae Bareli, Fatehpur, Chuna, Chnadradeepgaht, Ballia, Bidhuna, Shikohabad and Jalesar received 3 cm rains, Metrological department said.

Meanwhile, Central water commission report said that Ganga river was maintaining a rising trend from Allahabad to Ballia and Yamuna from Auraiya to Banda.

Sharda at Palia Kalan was stable but was still flowing above the red mark and Ghaghra, though under the danger mark at Turtipar was rising, reports added.
