Rains hit normal life, water released from various dams

Normal life was hit with heavy rains on the third day here with Irrigation department releasing water from different dams resulting in rise of water level of rivers Godavari and Darna.

According to district collector office, tribal dominated Igatpuri tehsil in the district recorded 168 mm rainfall during last 24 hours while Nashik city has recorded 33 mm rain on Monday.

The Meteorological department here today anticipated heavy rains in next 48 hours with district administration issuing warning to people living near the banks of river Godavari.

Executive engineer, Irrigation department S K Bafna said they have released 2685 cusecs water from Gangapur dam, 7355 cusecs water from Darna dam, besides releasing water from Kadwa dam. By this afternoon, a total of 13891 cusecs water passed through the Nandur Madhameshwar weir.
