Showers that began at around 12 PM continued for nearly an hour, slowing down traffic on major arterial roads and bringing in the problem of water-logging.

Rain gauges recorded 9.2 mm of rainfall till 5.30 PM in the evening, the MeT office said. The city has not been receiving rains for the past few days.

The maximum temperature came down slightly settling at 32.6 deg C, one degree below normal at this time of the season. The minimum temperature, however, saw a slight increase at 27.3 deg C, two degrees above normal.

Humidity was recorded between 89 and 78 per cent.

The MeT office clarified that the rains had nothing to do with cloudbursts in Uttarakhand.
