heavy rainfall at many places in the past 24 hours as the monsoon remained active over the state.
Rainfall was recorded in Bhinga, Ghazipur, Nighasan, Agra, Neemsar, Banda, Chhata, Ankinghat, Orai, Etawah, Dhauraha, Palliakalan, Chunar, Kalpi and Mathura, Met office sources said.
Rain and thundershower would occur at many places over the state and one or two places could receive heavy rains during the next 48 hours, it said.
The Central Water Commission said that Sharda river at Palia Kalan was still flowing above the red mark but Ghaghra which is flowing above the danger mark at Elgin Bridge and just below the red mark at Ayodhya and Turtipar was rising.
Among other rivers, Yamuna was rising from Baghpat to Agra and Rapti from Bahraich to Bansi, it said.
