Several parts of Uttar Pradesh today received rainfall, leading to rise in water level of rivers Ganga and Sharda.
Though the rains made the weather pleasant, low-lying areas in the state faced water logging problems causing traffic snarls.
According to the Central Water Commission, Banda recorded the maximum rainfall in the state at 120.6 mm, followed by 90 mm in Hamirpur.
Lucknow received 80 mm of rainfall, while Kanpur and Basti received 63.6 mm and 60 mm of rainfall respectively, it said.
The Commission said the Ganga river is rising along its course from Narora in Bulandshahr to Chatnag in Kanpur and flowing well below the danger leverl, whereas the Sharda river in Palia is flowing very near the danger mark.
It has predicted rain and thundershowers very likely in most places of the state in the next 24 hours.
