Rains lash east Rajasthan, western parts remains dry

Monsoon remained active as rains lashed eastern parts of Rajasthan today, even as most of the western region continued to wait for the showers.

Dabok recorded the maximum rainfall of 11.7 mm in the state during the past 24 hours, the MeT department said.

Hot and humid weather persisted in the western parts, where Sriganganagar was the hottest place with a maximum temperature of 42.1 degrees Celsius.

Bikaner recorded a maximum of 40.2 degrees, whereas Barmer and Jaisalmer registered highs of 38.5 degrees Celsius each, the MeT department said.

Mercury also remained high at other places in the region also including Jodhpur, Jaisalmer, Barmer, Bikaner, Nagaur, and Churu.
 

Some areas in the western region, however, recorded light rains.

While Sriganganagar received 8 m of rains, Chittorgarh and Ajmer received 1 and 0.7 mm of rainfall, the MeT department said, adding that rain and thundershowers may occur in the north-eastern region in the next 24 hours.
