Rains lash Odisha, likely to continue for next 24 hours

Fishermen have been advised not to venture into the sea

Several parts of Odisha were experiencing incessant rains for the last two days disrupting normal life.

The development of low pressure over central parts of south Madhya Pradesh and adjoining Vidarbha was likely to trigger rain and thundershower in most places over Odisha during the next 24 hours, the meteorological centre here said.

Under its impact, heavy rainfall would occur at one or two places over north Odisha districts during the period, it said.

Gusty surface wind with 50 kmph speed and increasing up to 60 kmph might prevail along and off Odisha Coast.

Fishermen have been advised not to venture into the sea.
 
Meanwhile, heavy rains pounded several parts of the state, including the capital city of Bhubaneswar and adjoining areas, over the last two days, disrupting normal life as low-lying areas were inundated .

While Bhubaneswar recorded 116.7 mm rainfall, the seaside pilgrim town of Puri received 165.8 mm rainfall, a met office bulletin said.
