Rains lash parts of UP, 1 killed in lightning strike

Light to moderate rains and thunder showers lashed a few places in Uttar Pradesh, while heavy rainfall was reported from a few isolated places in eastern region of the state in the last 24 hours.

According to the MeT Department, Bikapur and Kakardharighat received 5 centimetre of rainfall each, 4 cms in Azamgarh and Gonda. Three centimetres in Basti, Bhinga, and Rajghat. Nighasan, Kalilabad and Varanasi recorded rainfall of 2 centimetres each.

Day temperatures fell appreciably in Moradabad, Varanasi, and Meerut divisions and changed little in remaining divisions of the state.

Highest maximum temperature was recorded in Etawah at 45.4 degrees Celsius, it said.
 

A 16-year-old boy, Nanhe Lal Nishad, was killed and his brother injured after being hit by lightning in Jafrabad area here yesterday, police said.
