Rains lash Punjab, Haryana

Patiala in Punjab with 74 mm of rainfall was the wettest place in the two states. The maximum temperature in Patiala was recorded at 33.8 deg C, down by two notches.

Ludhiana also received light showers and the maximum settled at 32.3 deg C, three degrees below normal, the MeT said here.

However, Amritsar continued to remain hot at 39.8 deg C, up five notches, despite receiving 6 mm of rain.

Chandigarh was lashed by 14.7 mm rain and the maximum settled at 34.3 deg C.

In Haryana, Ambala (34.9 C), Karnal (35 C), Rohtak (36.1 C) recorded maximums within the normal level, but Hisar was hot at 37.5 deg C.

 

Morni in Panchkula district received 43 mm while Panchkula received 7 mm, Chhachhrauli and Kalka had three mm of rain each while Ambala had 5.6 mm of showers.

Highest rainfall of 167 mm was recorded in Naraingarh in Ambala district two days back.

The MeT office has forecast light to moderate rain or thundershowers at a few places in the two states over the next two days.
