Rains lash several places in Punjab, Haryana

Ludhiana and Patiala had highs of 33.9 and 35.6 degrees celsius respectively

Light to moderate rains today occurred in various parts of Punjab and Haryana where maximum temperatures hovered above normal levels.

In Haryana, Hisar, where the maximum temperature settled at 37 degree celsius, and Bhiwani received 24 mm and 6.4 mm of rains respectively.

The maximum in Narnaul dropped sharply to 29.5 deg C, five notches below normal, after it received 11 mm of rains.

Ambala registered a high of 35.4 deg C, two notches above normal, the weather office said.

In Punjab, Amritsar received 23 mm of rains as the maximum temperature in the city touched 32.6 deg C.

Ludhiana and Patiala had highs of 33.9 and 35.6 degrees celsius respectively.
 
The Union Territory of Chandigarh registered a high of 35.4 degrees celsius.

The Met department forecast light to moderate rains at isolated places in Punjab and Haryana in the next couple of days.
