Light to moderate rains today lashed several areas of Uttarakhand even as Chief Minister Vijay Bahuguna today made a visit to Chamoli to review relief operations in the district which was one of the worst hit areas in the mid June calamity.
Though most places in the state received light to moderate rains, Haldwani in Naninital district was lashed by heavy showers receiving a maximum of 150 MM of rainfall in the last 24 hours followed by Tanakpur in Chamapwat which received 78 MM of rains, State Disaster Management and Mitigation Centre here said.
Dharchula in Pithoragarh district received 59 MM of rains while Koshiyakuteli area in Nainital district recorded 40 MM of rains, DMMC said.

The MeT department predicted similar weather conditions for the next 24 hours with light to moderate rains likely at most places barring a few where it may rain heavily.
Meanwhile, with the weather bright and sunny in Dehradun, Chief Minister Vaijay Bahuguna today visited Chamoli to meet the disaster-hit people of the district and take stock of the relief operations under way.
Bahuguna had to cancel his visit to Chamoli several times in the past due to inclement weather.
