Rains provide respite to Delhiites from hot conditions

A welcome downpour in the evening hours today brought much-needed respite from muggy weather for Delhiites, who had been reeling under hot and humid conditions.

A total of 31.6 mm of rains were recorded in parts of the city, while the day's temperature remained normal at 34.5 degrees Celsius, MeT department said.

The minimum temperature was a notch above the normal at 25.3 degrees Celsius and humidity level during the day oscillated between 59 per cent and 84 per cent.

Though the city witnessed cloud cover but there was no rainfall till 6.30 PM.

The rains started around 6.30 PM, and also brought along problems of water logging and slow movement of traffic.
 

Traffic was moving slow on ring road near Lajpat nagar, Munirka, Ashram and other areas. People complained about water-logging between Sarai Kale Khan and Nizamuddin flyover.

MeT Department has forecast a partly cloudy sky with the possibility of light rains or thundershowers in some areas.

The maximum and minimum temperatures would be around 35 and 25 degrees Celsius respectively.
