Rains return to capital after three days

The rains, which returned to the capital after a gap of three days, started around noon and the rain gauges measured 2.5 mm till 5:30 PM.

The city received heavy showers for nine days from August 20, reducing the monsoon deficit in a big way.

The maximum was recorded at 34.9 deg C, one degree above normal and down from yesterday's 35.3 deg C, while the minimum was recorded at 28 deg C, two degrees above normal and up from yesterday's 26.8 deg C.

The humidity oscillated between 60 and 92 per cent.

According to the weatherman, the city is likely to get rains for the next two days with a dip in mercury, which is expected to fall and settle at around 30 deg C on Tuesday.
