Rajasthan government today hiked the special allowance given to policemen attached with the special unit and approved purchase of more vehicles for ensuring effective surveillance.
While allowance of special police unit jawans has been hiked to 25 per cent from existing 10 per cent, it was also decided to add nine more vehicles to the unit's fleet.
Speaking at the foundation laying ceremony of state intelligence training academy here, Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot said the state has taken a number of initiatives to strengthen surveillance ability of the police.
Highlighting some of the decisions, Gehlot said a dedicated training centre in the form of Sardar Patel University of Police, Security and Criminal Justice was set up in Jodhpur to impart necessary skills among the personnel.
Furthermore, police commissionerate system was introduced in Jaipur and Jodhpur to ensure effective monitoring in the two big cities of the state.
Rajasthan's MoS Home Virendra Beniwal, DGP Harish Meena, ADGP (Intelligence) Dalpat Singh Dinkar were also present on the occasion among others.
Being set up in the Rajasthan Police Academy premises, the state intelligence training academy will be developed with an estimated cost of Rs 10.63 crore.
