The Rajasthan assembly was adjourned twice Thursday during the pre-lunch session amid the Opposition's uproar over alleged shelving of over 4000 of their questions on public interest and the misuse of state machinery for Chief Minister Vasundhara Raje's 'gaurav yatra'.
The House was first adjourned during Question Hour for 45 minutes after the Opposition trooped into the well, alleging that important questions on various public issues were not being taken up by the House for ministers to answer them.
As the Opposition refused to heed to Speaker Kailash Meghwal's pleas to go back to their seats, the House was adjourned.
Speaking to reporters later outside the House, Congress deputy whip Govind Singh Dotasara alleged at least 4,000 questions sought to be raised by various opposition members were never taken up by the House and dropped.
"It has happened for the first time in the history," Dotasara said, adding "the Voice of democracy is being trampled."
He said Congress legislator Nand Kishor Maharia and independent MLA Hanuman Beniwal had raised questions on expenditures on the chief minister's public meetings, on beneficiaries of various government schemes and allotment of bungalows to former chief ministers, but those questions never saw the light of the day.
During Zero Hour, Dotasara and his party members got agitated after the Speaker refused to accept an adjournment motion by the Congress on the alleged misuse of government machinery for the chief minister's 'gaurav yatra' in the state.
Dotasara statement that even high court has disapproved "the misuse of government resources" for the CM's 'gaurav yatra' led to heated exchange between the ruling party and the Opposition, which again trooped into the well.
As the speaker refused to accept the motion and the Opposition stayed put in the well, he adjourned the House for a second time till 2pm.
