Raj Assembly passes Goods and Services Tax bill-2017

The Rajasthan Assembly today passed the state Goods and Services Tax bill-2017 by voice vote.

Replying to a debate on the bill, Industry minister Rajpal Singh said that the new tax regime will help the economy of the country and the states grow.

"GST will help in a seamless flow of services across states in the country. Inter-state trade will increase, GDP will grow and the common man will benefit," Singh said.

He said that rate structure under the GST has been finalised.

The minister said that the service sector in Rajasthan is rapidly growing and has a contribution of 48 per cent in the GDP of the state.
 

After the reply, the bill, which has the provision for levy and collection of tax on intra-state supply of goods or services or both by the state, was passed by voice vote.
